I Also tried stopping and starting it, and restarting the windows installer. I've been able to install other programs such as Chrome and Spotify, so I am confused as to why it's only just now begun preventing program installations. I haven't changed any settings to the computer as I've only recently purchased it, all I've done is install the few programs I wanted on it straight away, and at all times anti-virus software has been running and not noticed any problems. I have had the same problem starting January 31, as well and I also recently got my laptop about a month ago.

This just happened to my laptop last night, downloaded a file, clicked on it and now it refuses to do anything. Photos open okay but nothing that needs installing.
