I think anyone with average PC experience could easily do it, but as with anything else read about it first, it's pretty straightforward. All details here. Joined Aug 12, Messages 0. I am sure a mere man among computer giants in this forum, but that is why I am here.
I thought it would be a good learning experience to burn a Reatogo CD, but if this is something a basic computer user can do than I have greatly over rated myself. First I made the slipstreamed cd as it said. I have both the operating system and the service pack 2 on cd. The autostreamer created a winrar file.
When I tried to point the Reatogo to it I could not find it. Reatogo seems to be looking for a folder, not a winrar file. I then thought I would just burn a copy with only the xp cd, I figured it was better than nothing until I could figure out what I was doing wrong.
However, even though the Reatogo is copying directly from the installation cd, at the end it had 17 errors stating that it could not find the needed dll. How can this be when it is copying it from the installation cd? Any knowledge you can share about this would be appreciated. I want to broaden as well as deepen my knowledge of computers, but I have come to the limit of my knowledge about the reatogo program Thanks. Yes a bit of lateral thinking is what's needed here.
Load up the Reatogo PE builder and ignore any other buttons for the moment. Click on the Start PEBuilder button and in the box which says 'Source path to installation files', click on the browse button on the right with 3 dots Browse to drive C: click on it then on OK. Now click on the build button. You will get a message saying all files in the Reatogo folder will be deleted, click OK.
Reatogo will now attempt to extract all necessary files from your i folder in Windows. Don't be surprised if Retogo reports a few dll's are missing and stops, these can be elsewhere on your Hard Drive. I had to search for 5 dll's later and place them in the i folder and then everything worked afterwards. Try this approach and tell me how you got on. You should at least be able to create a standard Reatogo disc with this method.
Thank you Saxon for taking the time to reply. I did as you said and this time there were only 7 missing files, but they were not dll files. Error: SetupIterateCabinet returned 2: The system cannot find the file specified. I searched and the cab files are indeed missing, the wmp. When I used the xp cd it was only missing dll's now using the C: drive it is missing various items, yet the computer never generates error messages to indicate that the operating system is missing the missing files.
And yes, lateral thinking is not my strong point, I am a deeply entrenched lineal thinker. I do need to broaden the mindset. Anyway, I appreciate the help and even if there is no solution I would like to know why it is not working as that is often more instructive than successfully executing the task, at least in my experience. Thanks Again. Enter Device Manager in the search box, and tap or click Device Manager.
In the list of hardware categories, double-tap or double-click the category your device is in and then double-tap or double-click the device you want. For example, to see your video card, tap or click Display adapters , and then double-tap or double-click the video card name. Tap or click the Driver tab, tap or click Update Driver , and then follow the instructions. You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.
Occasionally, you might see a notification that a driver is unsigned, has been changed since it was signed, or can't be installed by Windows. We recommend that you don't install unsigned or changed drivers. A digitally signed driver includes a digital signature, which is an electronic security mark that indicates the publisher of software and whether someone has tampered with it since it was signed.
If a driver has been signed by a publisher that has verified its identity with a certification authority, you can be confident that the driver comes from that publisher and hasn't been changed. If you see any of the following notifications when you're installing a driver, you should stop the installation and go to your device manufacturer's website to get a digitally signed driver for your device.
The driver doesn't have a digital signature or has been signed with a digital signature that wasn't verified by a certification authority. You should only install this driver if you got it from the manufacturer's disc or from your system administrator. The driver hasn't been digitally signed by a verified publisher. The driver might have been changed to include malware that could harm your PC or steal info. In rare cases, legitimate publishers do change drivers after they've been digitally signed, but you should only install an unsigned driver if you got it from a device manufacturer's disc.
Unfortunately, there's no trustworthy source of info that indicates who has published an unsigned driver. Anyone can change the contents of an unsigned driver, and there's no way to know why it was changed. Most manufacturers now digitally sign the drivers they create before releasing them to the public. A driver that lacks a valid digital signature, or has a signature that was changed after it was signed, can't be installed on bit versions of Windows.
You'll only see this notification if you have a bit version of Windows and try to install such a driver on it. Windows 8. Need more help? Hive, If the info I gave you for adding drivers doesn't work for you, pls. I almost made you an audio driver last night but you need to figure this one out for yourself, keep plugging away.

I knew it was either ubcd or the Reatogo guys that did something with bashrat's packs. Anyway, you've apparently been working with WinPE for longer than I, so I'm going to ask that someone else provide the needed advise, I'm at a real loss for words. I think my method is to use nLite to integrate the drivers into my source media. Not elegant but it mostly works.
Just use your nLite made files in WinBuilder as the source.. Posted 23 March - PM. I looked for it but couldnt find the plugin within the Plugins folder for Drivers to try to use it.
Putting drivers into your source with nLite only helps, if you have a script that copys all drivers from your source to your WBPE. Posted 23 April - PM.

Is there a way to include Driver Packages in a cab form that can be used by the live PE when it needs them. Instead of decompressed. This is because when they are compressed they will be small in size but if they are all decompressed they will take huge amounts of Media space. I was looking at DriverPacks from driverpacks.
Or will the Live PE not recognize the Drivers inside the cab files. I remember there being a way to add drivers but I forgot where I saw that.
Posted 21 March - AM It was yesterday. Bashrat's driver paks are designed for adimistrators that deploy systems to many different types of hardaware, they've already been made into a bartpe plugins, you might find it in a search at cd-forum or msfn, I forget who did it, personally I don't want all those drivers, just the current ones for my personal LAN hardware, stripped to the bone.
But the method didnt seem to work with my harware. We can only circle if we cannot find the proper solution. Havent heard of Bashrat drivers. Ill take a look and both forums.
